Girls and Boys Volleyball Instructional Camps

Program:

Session A :Beginners: This co-ed session is for beginning players & will focus on developing individual skills. Whether learning the game as a beginner or wanting to improve skills, this camp will offer an outstanding opportunity to learn the fundamentals of team play while continuing to develop individual skills. Campers will be given a Calvin Volleyball T-shirt and camp volleyball. Campers must bring their own lunch.

Session B, C, H & I: All Skills: These co-ed sessions are for athletes of beginning & intermediate skill levels & will focus on developing individual skills. There will be a portion of the day that campers will be able to choose a skill in which they want to get extra instruction. This camp will offer an outstanding opportunity to learn the fundamentals of team play while continuing to develop individual skills. There will be a lot of individual attention given as well as a written evaluation for each camper. Our goal is to make camp one of the best weeks of the summer for our campers while providing opportunities of growth both in skills and character development. Campers will be given a Calvin Volleyball T-shirt and camp volleyball. Campers must bring their own lunch.

Session D & J:Advanced/College Prep : This co-ed camp is geared to the serious volleyball players who are driven to get better in all areas of their game. This is for intermediate and advanced high school players looking to maximize their volleyball potential. Players whose goals are to improve their technique and tactical knowledge will find a challenging and rigorous program with excellent competition and outstanding instruction. We will be providing mentality training to improve mental toughness and to help perform well under pressure situations. Campers will be given a Calvin Volleyball T-shirt and camp volleyball. Campers must bring their own lunch.

Session E:Advanced Setters : This co-ed camp is a unique approach for a limited number of players who strive to improve their setting skills. The instruction will be focused and individualized. We will be using different technology tools to give instant feedback on setting angles and delivery. There will also be an emphasis on setting strategy and decision-making skills which is an important part of a setter’s game. Campers will be given a Calvin Volleyball T-shirt and camp volleyball. Bring your own lunch. Dinner will be provided.

Session F: Advanced Hitters : This co-ed camp is a unique approach for a limited number of players who strive to improve their hitting skills. The instruction will be focused and individualized and will include areas of the hitters’ games that require thinking, reading and seeing the game to be able to adjust their skills for maximum performance. Campers will be given a Calvin Volleyball T-shirt and camp volleyball. Bring your own lunch. Dinner will be provided.

Session G:Dig/Pass/Serve : This co-ed session is for all skill levels. The camp is a unique approach for a limited number of players who strive to improve their digging, passing and serving skills. We will be using different technology tools to give instant feedback on setting angles and delivery. There will also be an emphasis on serving and passing strategy and decision-making skills which is an important part of the game. Campers will be given a Calvin Volleyball T-shirt and camp volleyball. Bring your own lunch. Dinner will be provided.

Session K:Elite ID Overnight : This high school girls’ camp is a high-level teaching and training camp for players planning to play volleyball at the collegiate level. The camp looks to introduce players to the technical and tactical training used by the Calvin women’s volleyball program. This camp will give the truest taste of what it is like to play for the Knights and learn more about the goals and philosophy of Calvin University Volleyball. Meals and lodging will be provided.

Session L & N: Skills Overnight : Open to girls of beginning or intermediate skill levels, focusing on developing individual skills. Whether learning the game as a beginner or wanting to improve skills, this camp will offer an outstanding opportunity to learn the fundamentals of team play while continuing to develop individual skills. There will be a portion of the day that campers will be able to choose a skill they want to get extra instruction. Session P:Middle School Tryouts Prep : This session is for players who want extra work for their middle school season. There will be an emphasis on serving and passing but also technical training through drills and repetitions. There will be a very low ratio of coach to camper at this camp so a lot of feedback will be given to each camper. Campers will be given a Calvin Volleyball T-shirt.
